Bruce Huber

His next daily-driver was a 2001 740i “Sporty Shorty,” the last of the classic e38s; and that was followed by an SAV, the e83 X3. When a fellow Club Member posted an e39 identical to the one he had in the Roundel classifieds in ‘17, Bruce flew to DC for it; that 540M Sport is his “garage queen” today. Bruce served as Secretary of the Illini Chapter from 2005-07 and more recently since ’18, so he’s the ghost-writer behind most of the Chapter email you get. Bruce is an enthusiastic TRSS volunteer and social events participant.

Boris Peharda

Track Events Chair
Resides in: Peoria, IL
Drives: 2012 X5 Diesel (road), 1987 325i race car (track)
Biography: Boris has all the credentials of our Chapter high-speed guy. He’s a graduate of the Skip Barber Driving School and both the Porsche Club of America and BMW CCA Instructor training programs. Boris has driven on some of the Nation’s best tracks, including Laguna Seca and Daytona, but the track nearest’n’dearest to his heart is Road America in Wisconsin – where he and his wife Kelly saw their first sports car race. That Elkhart Lake track is also where he met his future son-in-law while instructing at a BMW CCA Oktoberfest. Ever active, Boris still found ways to race and instruct during the Covid-restricted 2020.

At one time Boris’ and Kelly’s daily driver was a 1999 328i previously owned by his parents! They have owned many performance cars including four BMWs, and she’s been an excellent partner in his track adventures. Acquisition of a 2013 Porsche via European Delivery gave them opportunity to tour Europe and visit his Croatian relatives. Boris told that story when the Chapter published our Roundelian quarterly, and others such as his team’s win in the Chumpcar sixteen-hour endurance Chumpionship at Road America.
Boris and Kelly are now proud grandparents of two grandaughters and a grandson who live close by. Recently he and his son-in-law started “Track Tested Motorsports,” recording and publishing videos about track cars and driving on tracks.
